LORE
Merriam-Webster Definition:
Traditional knowledge or belief about a particular subject, usually passed from person to person by word of mouth.
Example: “The old village lore says that the river is haunted.”
Knowledge or teachings held by a particular group, especially in a field of study or practice.
Example: “She has an extensive lore of herbal medicine.”
Why are brands using “lore” in their brand names, and what exactly are they trying to signal? Depth? Storytelling? Culture? Is the aim to cultivate a world to belong to rather than just sell a product or a service?
Does lore = brand world-building + culture + community + story? Or just another buzzword?
